ROOM IN THE INN - MONDAY 1-26-09

Adults 4 Christ is responsible for Room In The Inn on Monday January 26th. Please mark your calendars in advance so you don't forget. What a great way for us to back up our Christian talk by assisting in a mission that we know Jesus himself would do. We are to bring meat, veggies and bread ( 32-35 people) Between 5:30PM - 6:00PM. It will be Women's Night. Another class will provide the lunches for the next day. The church will provide the deserts and drinks. We look forward to working with each of you that can fit this time into your schedule, if even for only a few minutes. Our wish is that it will be a joint class effort. We know it will be a blessing for all.
love, Joe and Brenda

PRAYER FOR PANSEY LEECH'S MOTHER

Please pray for my mother, Linda Suiter. She had a stroke on Monday- 12/22. We did not notice a change in her daily activities until Tuesday when she became unable to talk and walk. Mom is in Springfield at Northcrest Hospital and is recovering nicely at this point. She has regained her ability to communicate and walk (**PRAISE GOD**). With each step of emotions and challenges this Christmas, I am so thankful and it was truly a MERRY CHRISTMAS, because my mom is alive. Please be in prayer for her health and recovery - I do sincerely appreciate it.

ANOTHER CHRISTIAN OPPORTUNITY- NEW UPDATE

Because of a great need - we have added a little boy, Brandon Harvey - 8 yrs old, to our Christmas mission project. He is a student of Kim Lee. Brandon is in the hospital and has been for some time. Doctors are still trying to diagnose him. His Mother is having a very hard time. He has been on our prayerlist for a couple of weeks. You can either see Kim or myself regarding a donation or just bring something to class. The Lee's were not in class last week when we discussed our project and Shalon's family. You can participate in either one or both; however God leads your heart. There has already been a temendous outpouring for Shalon and her two girls. You are a great group. God is good!!

There are times you do things because it is Christmas and then there are times you do things because " its just the right thing to do."

Love, Brenda
.....................................................
UPDATE - TUESDAY 12-23-08
.....................................................
I finally got a picture of Brandon for everyone. This is his picture from second grade (08-09 school year) when he was in my class. He was able to come to our third grade class Christmas Party just before school got out. He is MUCH thinner now and still does not have a diagnosis. I am not sure if he will be back in school in January. We gave his mom the card with the money collected from our class and she was EXTREMELY touched. I really feel like an impact was made. She asked me the name of our church so that she could write to our class as circumstances permit.
Thank you all so much for such a generous outpouring for this precious boy and his family. Merry Christmas!

love, Kim

CLASS CHRISTMAS PARTY

This wonderful time of year was made better Friday night with our spectacular Class Christmas Party hosted by the Steakley's. If you weren't in the Christmas Spirit before you arrived your mood was quickly changed when you walked into that wonderland filled with the aroma of hickory smoked foods and such beautiful decorations. Brenda's personal touch and hard work was apparent at every turn. Joe got home from the airport to get the party started right on time. The food was so delicious that it was enjoyed probably a little more than we normally would or should have. I refuse to talk about the desserts out of fear that I might incriminate myself. I will only admit that the variety was almost limtless and the supply was sufficient for a group several times our size. Our sugar high and Kenny Morrow helped maintain our lifted spirits during the Gift Exchange. Kenny's crew of several stand ins (Kevin and Rick - to name just 2) were always prepared to step in when he got tired or was at a loss for words. The only down side to the party was when security had to escort "Debbie Roach and that crazy little basket?" to her car out of fear for her safety. I think in the future that gift should be banned from parties for the age group of 30 to 60 year olds, apparently they aren't mature enough yet to deal with it's hypnotic attraction. In Debbie's best interest I suggest 2 options : #1 let her keep it and we perform an excorcism on her or #2 we should sign a petition forcing her to give it to someone more age and wisdom appropriate like a qualified member of the Senior's Class.

The Christian fellowship and love felt last night was a fitting and honorable way to celebrate and praise the birth of our Lord and Savior , Jesus Christ.

Words can not express the thanks we owe Joe and Brenda, but words can well describe other feelings - WE LOVE YOU BOTH!

CLASS MEMBER GEORGE WILLIAMS

PRAYER REQUEST
George did not receive a good report from the doctor today. He is scheduled for a 2nd surgery on his eye on Monday, Dec. 15, at Saint Thomas Hospital. The doctor is going to laser and re-attach an apparent small tear and is going to have to do laser and some type of silicone. Please pray for George as this is disappointing news for us. He will not be able to work or do anything else for another month or so and he is not used to just sitting around. However, we know God is in control and everything will work out.
.
Love and blessings, Julie Williams

CHRISTMAS MISSION PROJECT

It was suggested that our class assist a family this year with their Christmas.
What a Great Undertaking! Shannan Williams had the perfect family
for us. A single Mother with 2 young girls, ages 6 & 8. The Mother's name is Shalon Alvis (work photo to right) and her daughters are Ashton - (8 yrs.-size 7/8) and Rylie (6yrs. - size 6/7). The sizes are in little girls clothes. Both girls love the colors pink and purple. They like arts and crafts, decorating their rooms, drawing and coloring. They also like "The Littest Petshop", if it doesn't sound familar you can go to http://www.hasbro.com/littlestpetshop/
- just like we had too. We can donate money toward a Kroger Gift Card and/or other items for the family, purchase another Gift Card on your own, or purchase a gift from the information above. If your feeling frisky and are so inclined feel free to do all the above.
______________________________________

IMPORTANT - DEADLINE - In order to have time to purchase the Kroger Card, gifts, and other items and prepare it to be delivered to the Family - everything needs to be turned in to Shannan Williams by Sunday December 14th. Not much time, but what a great cause and what a great Mission for our Class and for us individually.

SPECIAL REQUEST

Please remember Debbie in your prayers. She is having neck surgery next Thursday, December 4 at Hendersonville Hospital . She’s having a bone fusion and plating of 3 vertebrae in the upper part of her neck. She’s been suffering from this condition for many years, and after exhausting all other treatment remedies, surgery is her next step to find relief.

Thanks for your prayers.

David E. Harbison

NEW UPDATE:
FRIDAY 12/5/08
.............................................

Dear Prayer Warriors,
Thank you for praying for Debbie yesterday (Thursday). We are home following a successful surgery. The surgeon told me that the compression of the nerves was worse than indicated on the x-ray studies, and she should experience tremendous relief from her pain and discomfort once she fully recovers. There is some stiffness from the stretching of her neck, but that too will improve with time. Please continue to lift her up during her recovery.

PRAYERS NEEDED FOR BRO. ANDRE'

Sarah Dugger: After several weeks of dealing with severe neck and arm pain, Andre' has been diagnosed with three ruptured discs as well as some bone fragments and other issues in the C2-C5 area of his neck. In order to avoid any further nerve damage he will have surgery on Thursday, November 13, to correct the problem. Please pray for Andre to have some relief of pain Monday through Wednesday of this week. He is in a lot more pain than he is letting people see and the doctor won't let him do anything more than put ice on his neck. Depending on how he does on Thursday, he is planning on preaching on Sunday - although the doctor did say it will be a few weeks before he is back to full speed. Don't worry, I'll make him behave!

Thanks, Sarah

UPDATE: THURSDAY 11/13/08
The office spoke with Sarah about 6:15 this evening. She wanted to update everyone on Bro. Andre. He was out of surgery and in recovery. They had just called her and given her the room number and she was in his room waiting for him. The surgery went well - they did three fusions. She expects he will rest overnight and be released tomorrow. She will update us as she can. Please continue to pray for his very quick and complete recovery and healing.

JOE'S SURGERY ON OCTOBER 7TH

Please remember Joe's upcoming surgery. No lets do more than just remember him. Lets step up and serve as Adults 4 Christ "Prayer Warriors." Prayers of Agreement using scripture is where we can serve him best, Based on Matthew 18:19 NASB - "Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst."
When we pray the scriptures, we are coming into agreement with God, and His power is released to answer our prayers. We can start with each of these last days before surgery, lifting up Joe, his Doctors, Nurses and family. Then continuing after the surgery during the recovery and healing process.
..
Did you know that the prayers Jesus himself lifted to his Father were not always answered the first time? ???
Matthew 26:44 NASB says, And he left them again, and went away and prayed a third time, saying the same thing once more.
.
I think the important message here for us is to keep praying for Joe even if we feel like we have run out of words or have said everything there is to say. I believe this scripture could imply that the words may not be as important as the act of obedience in taking it to the Father. Lets show our obedience and trust in the Lord by PRAYING, PRAYING, and then PRAYING some more.

And the prayer of faith shall save the sick. (James 5:15)

HOW ABOUT A LADIES MOVIE NIGHT?

Kim Morrow has suggested a Ladies Movie Night for this Thursday August 28. She said some of the options suggested for the movie were Momma Mia or Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. The plan is to meet at Panera Bread at 6 pm or so to get a bite or straight to the movie around 7pm.

PLEASE TALK IT OVER IN CLASS SUNDAY

The movie will need to be selected - (no sad one please). Kim and her family will be with Kenny's dad this weekend. Please let her know if you can make it on Thursday the 28th or if another date would be better.

THE BIBLE OR YOUR CELLPHONE- WHICH DO YOU CHERISH MORE?

SOUND SILLY! - ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS AND FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF.

1. Which one do you carry around the most in your purse, pocket, or in your hand?
2. Which do you flip through the most during the day?
3. Which one are you more willing to turn back to go get it if you forget it?
4. If lost which would you replace the quickest?
5. Which one do you treat more like you couldn't live without it?
6. Which have you given more to your kids as gifts?
7. Which do you depend more on when you travel?
8. Which do you use more often in case of emergency?
9. When you buy a new one which are you willing to spend more money on?
10. Which new one do you show the most or talk about more to friends?
11. Which do you recharge the most - your phone or your spirit?
12. Based on your actions which appears more to be your life line?
13. Would you get more upset if you dropped or lost your cell phone or your Bible?

Still sound silly or did it make you stop and think?

WHAT DOES IT SAY ABOUT OUR LIFE STYLE WHEN SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS A CELLPHONE IS MORE IMPORTANT TO US THAN THE HOLY WORD OF GOD?

MISSING TEACHER RAISES CONCERNS

When an H.C.A. Exec. / Sunday School Teacher and a Top Chemist / Side Kick both disappear at the same time some might think "kidnapped for ransom". If that had been the case, both wives stated, the guys would have to escape because they wouldn't pay anyone a penny. Others may think "Middle Age Crisis - High School Fantasy Road Trip". But we know gas is too high, its too hot, and more important their cars would get too dirty. Putting aside all the ugly rumors, I choose to believe with their credentials that these noble, patriotic, and fearless men were called out to discretely handle an anthrax attack at the request of the President. I'm convinced that what some may preceive as a suntan is really a chemical burn received while risking their lives to save some innocent little town from sure death. We wish them God's Speed regarding their recovery as they rest and regain their strength. After all, in this world today we never know when they must go again.

SUGG'S CHRISTIAN HOSPITALITY

A 4th of July picnic at the Sugg's Farm is more like going to the State Fair than to a picnic. No, the Sugg's Picnic had more activities, better food, bigger swimming pool, better hay rides, cleaner restrooms, better company, better looking horses, more worship, better fireworks, better singing, much more love and sits on more property than the state fair. So I guess it's only Fair to say ( no pun intended ) that the Sugg's picnic is nothing like the State Fair at all. It's like nothing I've ever seen before short of Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch.. .....Please don't repeat this but I over-heard that next year they will have an arcade, an elephant, funnel cakes, and Bro. Andre' will be guessing peoples weight. My guess would be that this job will end up making him the guest of honor in the another fun attraction - the dunking booth.
